I really like Trimax locks, I have about 10 and never had a difficulty with any of them. I ordered this lock to lock my Minn Kota trolling motor to the quick remove mounting bracket. Upon receipt of the lock I went to install and it does not fit.I called Trimax to make certain of the diameter of the shackle which I was told that is is .25 ( 1/4 inch). I got out my caliper and measured the hole where the lock goes on the base and it measured .262 inch. I then measured the shackle of the coupler lock .274 inch. There is the problem, over sized.I really wanted this lock to work for my needs, but it does not. I did call Trimax again an advised what I found. The lady I spoke with was very nice and said she would pass the info along to the right person. I am disappointed as I really like this coupler lock, so if you need one a verification of the diameter needed would be in order. You've seen the YouTube videos where an overzealous TSA employee cut the locks off a gun case and actually damaged the firearms inside. This lock fits the Pelican Vault Cases perfectly and leaves NO room for a bolt cutter to reach the shackle. The lock body is too wide for most bolt cutters found in airport luggage handling areas. However, let's be real, most firearm travel cases are "PLASTIC" or some other kind of material easily defeated with a blowtorch. This lock is by no means "pickproof" - there's no such thing -- just check out the "LockPickingLawyer"s channel on YouTube. I went through six different trailer hitches before I found this one to fit the Vault cases. The only thing I don't like is the black rubber cap comes off to easyMy husband is impressed with this.On receipt, the locking mechanism was already fouled and barely worked. After dousing the keyhole with WD-40 and letting it sit for a half-hour, black debris flowed out of the lock. The locking mechanism now works flawlessly, BUT...If the lock arrived corroded after sitting in a dry-ish warehouse, how will it perform outdoors over the long haul? Even though the lock comes with a rubber weather cap, this will deteriorate with exposure to the sun, fall off and then what? Besides, that weather cap didn't do it much good inside the package...ahem.When the protective lock cover disintegrates, then the lock is completely exposed to the elements all of the time. This puts us right back where we started - a corroded locking mechanism fresh out of the package. We're thinking that there's a design/manufacturing flaw here that's unseen but will be certainly felt at some point in the future.Who wants to arrive at some destination only to discover that one of the trailer's hitch locks no longer works? This is especially true for the lock downs at all of the connection points. We're trying our best to avoid being unable to unhitch our trailer while still using as many theft deterrents as possible. This is one of our HUGE GRIPES with this industry. All of these crappy locks across almost all manufacturers that fail at the most inconvenient times so that the trailer can't be unhitched. We don't carry heavy duty bolt cutters or a metal grinder as part of our gear...geez.We're waiting on a set of German made, keyed alike Abus all weather locks. If the Abus shackle fits the trailer coupler hitch pin hole, then this gets returned.Oh yah, also got us a Brahma Lock to help with all of these niggling lock problems. It totally rocks! It looks as if the Brahma Lock might finally become a single point (read single lock) solution as a very effective theft deterrent. Not available on Amazon, but worth every penny vs. the junk that is sold on Amazon for this purpose.I have had the flat key version of this lock for at least 9 years and it is still in use. It has been locked on an ATV trailer tongue 24/7/365 in all kinds of weather conditions (rain, snow, ice, dust, dirt) and temperatures ranging from 105 to minus 15 degrees. After the first few years the rubber loop that keeps the rubber cap attached to the lock deteriorated and split. I continued to use the rubber cap until I misplaced it. Due to the internal key hole cover the lock did not get any debris in it and continued to function. The chrome finish is still in great condition with just normal wear marks. I have cleaned and lubricated it a few times with WD-40. I ordered this lock again this month for another trailer and it came with the round key. I am expecting many years of service.A-okLock your trailer to your hitch, don’t use those cheap latch pins. All someone has to do is undo the latch pin, lift the coupler and roll your trailer away. This at least helps prevent that plus keeps the trailer securely attached while towing.Purchased two of these items. They came in their own separate packaging with 2 keys each. We opened one of the packages and tried one set of keys on that same lock and then used those same keys in the other lock just to see and it worked. How secure is it if any body has a key like these ones and can just open any of these locks???El candado lo cerramos , lo volvimos a abrir y ya no volvió a funcionar , ¡ es un ASCO!We used the lock once , unlocked it and never worked again...it socks...The lock uses a tubular (round) key, which only uses 3 pins since it is a quarter turn lock. Not a 7 pin key that is shown in the photos and stated in the description. Major security flaw and false advertisement, not worth the money if you want actual protectionI’m not sure why it is called “deluxe”. Locking and unlocking the lock is very challenging. Once it is locked it is really secure. But it is frustrating to open and close it.Pour barrer la main de ma remorque , un beau produit qui semble tres étanche et chromé donc devrais résister a la rouille et empêché le vol de ma remorque.Je le recommande ......yvon pepin sherbrooke qc
