Replaced regular door lock with this. Every door is not the same as a few drilling, sanding and modification to existing hole recesses were necessary but not a big deal as long as you understand the dynamics of how everything is supposed to function. Once installed and programmed with reading instruction on how to do that were achieved the lock works perfectly as advertised. As for its longevity we shall see. It requires 4AA batteries so not sure how long they are supposed to last and how long to replacement but even that is not a big deal as long as you are sure to always have the key that it came with on your keychain as that function for manually opening the door with it also works as designed. When the door lock is on auto feature it does lock itself after 5 seconds so be sure to remember your code number that you program otherwise you will need the key. Recommend as of this product reviewing. Might update this review further down the road as wear and tear will tell how well it is and how long it is lasting. So after locking myself out of the house (in the garage) in my PJs and nobody is home and nobody is coming home, I decided to have a keypad-key lock and hide the key where I might remember it. So I spent an hour drilling through my titanium plate protected lock (who does this kind of thing? Oh. Nevermind) and wiped out a bunch of good drill bits. Fortunately I have several sets because I cant remember where I put them so I buy another. In this case, honey, it saved my bacon. OK bought the above keypad lock because it was stainless steel and a lot cheaper than most of the rest. I mean its inside a garage, and if I ever have to drill it out....l you get the reasoning here). Some things to be ready for: It doesnt fit under a standard US placed deadbolt. on the outside I needed to grind off about 3/16 to clear the bottom of the deadbolt. No I can't turn it upside down because then the keypad is upside down and keys are hard enough when you have had a couple of beers. That would make no sense. But it snugs up against the deadbolt and looks no worse for the experience. Route the little data cable through but do it upside down. I will get to that. You dont put the screws through the whole assembly like you are used to. You bolt on a plate that will secure the inside part of the knob but remember how the outside barely fit? Well the inside doesnt even come close. Like 2" overlap with the deadbolt (Hellooooo Marketing Dept!) So That part can go upside down cause it doesn't have a keypad just a batter case. So ignore "this side up" on the plate (nice steel plate but deforms a bit as you torque it down) and route the cable through the cutout. It juuuuuust barely reaches. Now assemble a connector so small it would be at home in your laptop with your fingers while holding up the inside knob. Cant be done. Step 1. Tape the know so it doesnt fall by itself. Step 2. carefully use a needlenose to line up (white wires match dont care about the rest) and gingerly snap it closed. If it doesnt snap, it will come apart and your keypad will be connected to nothing. Now you can put the inner knob on with the 2 screws that now mate with the bottom of the plate. Ta Da. Success. Add some industrial batteries cause you dont want to find dead batteries when you get home and follow the programming instructions. After two or three tries you will probably get it. Once installed, it looks good, works Ok. The unlock button is on the lower right. Get a red sharpie and make it easier to see. Or nail polish, I dont judge. You got the key or the keypad and for a stainless steel lock for the price of an unkeyed closet lockset. Oh before I forget. New installations- the strike plate has non-standard spacing for the mounting screws so mark before you cut or if there is an existing strike plate just use that on. The screws they provided are tiny. Get some nice 1 1/2"-2" stainless steel brutes to hold the strike plate in place. Enjoy.this is my first one-easy to install -had the 1st one for 2 months and absolutely no problems-easy to program -looks goodHave a family member with Dementia. This door locking mechanism works great to prevent them from exploring areas that could be harmful. Easy to reset the code. The price is good buying another.Works great and it lock’s by itself after a few seconds. Battery lasts a long time. This handle and lock works fine as a regular door handle. The keypad works for a few days then the batteries die. This means I’ve only really been able to use it a few times as intended. I would NOT recommend this product for the electronic keypad opener component.Used in Rental House and never had a problem with lost keys ?. As Tenants changed, I easily changed the code. ✅ Easily worth the peace of mind and convenience! You get what you pay for. I bought and installed this for when we have airbnb renters. We do not rent out the master bedroom and I need the ability, as much as piece of mind, to be able to lock the room when we're out.Fit and finish:My original push button door knobs are Schlage and have no rattle or jiggle when locked or turned. This particular knob is okay for the price, but looks cheap and has a hollow rattle that the Schlage knobs do not exhibit. The satin finish is fine, though considering the low price I'm a bit concerned it will wear quickly. Time will tell. The same goes for the keypad, with the potential for the numbers to rub off with repeated use. While the knob and keypad are metal, the rear housing is cheap plastic. Considering it's on the inside of a lightly trafficed room I do not see much of an issue, but if you have large hands or put the door closed by the cover you will notice the fingerprints.Noise:This thing beeps. Loudly. At any button you press. There is no (built in) way to silence or turn off this beeping. The piezo buzzer that makes the beeping noise is also tied to the keypad/buttons lighting up. If you remove the piezo buzzer from the board or disable it by removing the metal disk in the buzzer, you also lose the auto light function. The backlight function still works when you press the "Mi" button, so not all hope is lost for seeing the keys in the dark. Still, the buttons did light up at each press, letting you know the lock had registered the particular digit you'd pressed, sans beeping, no lighting up either. The motor that spins the thumb switch is likewise loud due to the use of plastic gears in the mechanism. Each time you lock or unlock the door from the keypad you get a quarter-second plastic grinding noise. It's not as annoying as the beeping, but should be noted that it is not subtle. Applying sufficient grease to the gear and drive screw might lower the noise level, but requires you to disassemble the lock beyond what you'd expect or with which you might be comfortable.*I'll update this further after I've had the lock for a bit, but I am as of yet undecided as to whether I'll keep the lock. Perhaps if it wasn't my bedroom door the unsightliness might not bother me as much, but it is the cheap look and feel combined with the noise-level when unaltered that really bugs me.(To get at the motor and gear you have to remove a plate on the inside of the back portion of the lock where the electronics are located. This plate is secured by three small screws that come out easily and secure back again after you'd greased the gears. Any such modification likely voids your warranty and is unadvisable if you're not comfortable with simple repairs. Considering the reliability issues reported on this lock, I would not personally do or suggest such things. I have not done or completed any such modifications to my lock as again, it might voice the warranty.)After having used it for over two years I can give my overall positive feedback. Considering that my partner is a joiner, fitting the lock using the instruction provided was easy enough. I Found the instruction for setting up a security code useful including how to re-set the code. It doesn’t seem to consume too much energy and only requires battery replacement twice a year. The display buttons require firm push when pressing them but the sound beep is there to acknowledge the digit was entered. Occasionally it takes two time to enter the security code before the lock opens. Generally , satisfied with the quality and operational characteristics of this digital security lock and would recommend it to others. From the very beginning the lock had a jamming problem. There are also manufacturing quality issues and a design change not shown in the information. I tried contacting MiLocks Co, both by phone and e-mail but no one picks up the phone and my e-mails have been ignored. I have photos of the problem areas which I would have gladly sent them so they could look at the problems but as they ignored me I am not about to do their quality control for them on here. Warning: The lock jammed several times, and could be a safety hazard. Returned to Amazon and received a full refund.Bought this door knob to replace an existing door knob in the house for extra security, and this definitely didn't disappoint. Out of the box, the doorknob is heavy and solid quality. The packaging itself is relatively minimal and eco-friendly, and also comes with instructions on how to set your custom lock password. Installation was easy and all required parts came with the doorknob. Overall, a solid buy, especially for DIY enthusiasts. The build quality has lasted several months now, and I've had no issues with battery life or lock mechanics. Would definitely recommend this to a friend.Pésima cerradura, me quedé encerrada desde adentro y solo pude salir cuando alguien picó el código desde afuera. Pasó dos veces, la primera tuve suerte porque había alguien ya esperando a entrar del otro lado de la puerta, la segunda alguien tuvo que venir a abrirme desde afuera, ridículo!
