I'm not at all handy with repairs, not a DIY kind of homeowner but as they say, necessity is the mother of invention. Washing machine stopped functioning with a "door open" error message so I turned to Google for help. First problem is that although I have a Frigidaire manual with my less than one year old washing machine, turns out there's no obvious brand name on the thing and even the serial-model number is just a tiny little sticker that took half an hour and a powerful flashlight to locate. Waste of time, a wide range of brand names are made by the same factory, Electrolux, Frigidaire, so this door locking mechanism is all the same. I was a little bothered that my specific model number didn't come up but this part worked. I switched it out myself using the DIY videos online, and although it wasn't as easy as it looked, it took me less than an hour with only a little cursing and one broken fingernail (it's not this part, the gasket and securing ring is a little challenging). This is the same part as the one that is twice as much here on Amazon, and over twice as much directly from HVAC parts companies, I don't know why the price varies so much but save yourself the $200 service fees and fix your washing machine yourself. It's a intentional design flaw, the part that gets the most wear and tear, the locking mechanism has brittle little plastic parts, it will break sooner rather than later and often over the life of most front loading washing machines. The other variation in price is shipping, the seller offering this at about twice as much that also has Amazon Prime is probably how I should have gone since I needed to wash as soon as the part broke. This seller offers "expedited delivery" for $10 more dollars, but it still took almost a week (priority USPS). Since this part is obviously designed to break, I'm ordering a back up from this same seller without the expedited delivery. If I were stuck like I was, I think I probably should have opted for the one that was almost twice as much with free Prime 2 day delivery, but I don't know, that's what you have to weigh to make the decision. Our 13 year old Frigidaire Washer Model GLTF2940ES0 had occasional issues with the spin over the years, but recently, it was not going into the high speed spin and would start to repeat the drain and spin cycle when there was almost no time left on the cycle. On Friday, during some testing, all spin activity stopped with the washer shutting off while skipping the spin. Note that agitation was working. We did some research regarding this issue and frequently mentioned issue was the door safety switch. An online video revealed the process to remove and reinstall it. Even tried some electrical contact cleaner on the old switch, but no change afterward. So after wondering whether the switch was the problem or if it was something else, we decided to give the switch a try.The new (note: this is NOT Frigidaire OEM) switch arrived one day later on Saturday with Prime free one day shipping (added 1 item to make $34.99 minimum). We tried a drain and spin cycle (13 minutes on timer) and waited anxiously for the any spin activity. After about 3 minutes of hearing the drain pump, the tub began to spin. Each washer cycle does a slow spin at first and gradually ramps up to the high speed (1400 rpm) spin and we observed this during the test.We did two normal washes afterward with the spin cycle blissfully completing each time. Success! So for considerably less than the cost of the OEM switch, the problem has resolved. Very happy. It's nice to save money instead of buying new and added more white goods to the landfill, but this was particularly important for us because when we researched purchasing replacement equipment, we could not find an equivalent washer and dryer with 3.5 cubic foot capacity and 5.9 cubic foot capacity dryer, stacked or stackable, to fit in the limited space (less than 31" depth) in our town home's utility room without modifying the sheetrock wall or settling for equipment that has significantly less capacity.received a pre owned, used product. pulled from a old unit. without even opening the plastic bag it was in i could see scratches and damage on the clip that holds the door, like its been used repeatedly for a long time before I got it.I returned the item.Exactly the same as the faulty part I removed from my eight year old Frigidaire front load washing machine, when the door lock stopped working.I thought maybe the washing machine had reached the end of its lifespan, but after watching a YouTube how to video and easily installing this part, my washing machine is working perfectly! Some people would have probably bought a new washing machine instead, but replacing this part was more cost effective and environmentally friendly.I’m not mechanically inclined, so if I can replace a washing machine part, so can you!The Electrolox 131763202 Washer Door Lock was fulfilled by Amazon and arrived within a week (and that was despite a postal backlog due to a recent Canada Post workers strike). The product was relatively easy to install (with the help of YouTube videos) and solved the problem with our Frigidaire front-load washing machine. The washing machine would not do a final high-speed (or any speed) spin leaving the clothes soaking wet. To check if your existing door lock is bad, use an Ohm meter to check the bottom solenoid (the red part in the seller's picture). If it reads 1.6 K or less it is likely a bad switch. The new one we received measured approximately 1.85 K and solved the problem.Exact fit and not as expensive as the repair man's but the door pops open during a heavy load cyle. A 10-15 minute install but I'm using a piece of duct tape to make sure the door doesn't open during the cycle.J'avais déjà nettoyé le filtre, pas bouché, mais changer le contact de porte a réglé le problème du SPIN à la fin du cyble.
